ALTAIR at Grand Copthorne 5-Star Hotel with Community Loudspeakers
December 2007,
Spektra Electronics has recently made some audio systems upgrades at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore, using ALTAIR power amplifiers and Community Loudspeakers.
Situated close to the Singapore River and close to the Central Business District, the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel is one of the best hotels in Asia, with over 500 hundred rooms and top quality restaurants.
The original installation was made by Spektra Electronics, for the first opening of the hotel, and the company was again chosen to make the upgrade by the hotel´s Chief Engineer. The systems for upgrading covered the bar/lobby, coffee house and outdoor dining areas.
During the day, the systems are used to reproduce background music in the three zones. In the evening this is replaced with live music in the lobby piano bar. This signal is also sent to the outdoor dining areas, creating a unique atmosphere.
The main loudspeaker system comprises Community XLT43 15-inch full-range loudspeakers with CPL51 subs. Foldback is provided by two Community MVP15M stage monitors and the whole system is driven by Altair amplification.
The coffee house system uses eight of Community's CPL23 compact loudspeakers and the outdoor dining area uses five Community R25-94X all-weather loudspeakers. Again, these are all driven by Altair amplification.
The choice of Community R-Series for the outdoor dining area was particularly important, as Spektra's C.B. Wee explained.
Copthorne’s Hotel chief engineer, Leo Hee Swee, confirmed that he was delighted with the 'first-class sound system' that Spektra Electronics had installed.
